Babelfish translates the text as...

The instrument of the master

In September 2002 this Stratocaster,

which ignited Jimi Hendrix 1968 with the Miami Pop festival on the stage,

on an auction was sold.

In the picture Dweezil Zappa, son of Franz Zappa, on the legendary guitar
plays.

I remember reading that Jimi gave the burned guitar (parts) to Frank Zappa,

who forgot about it until he stuck a modern Strat neck and scratchplate on
it,

the original neck having been "stored" in a polythene bag,

outdoors - underneath the porch of his house,

until the wood developed longitudinal cracks.

I've seen a photograph of the neck - it was swollen to baseball-bat
proportions and totally unsalvageable .

Jimi didn't give the guitar to Frank, H (Howard Parker), who roadied
for both, gave it to Frank.

H (seen in A Film About Jimi Hendrix) later died in a boating accident
(?).

A few other not-often-seen random pic samples---
Just spent a lot of time going through your entire 40 pages at photobucket.
Great collection...but if you ever get the time to write just a short
comment on some of the more rare pics, it would be appreciated...but it's
still great as is.

Axis - I can't thank you enough for your AWESOME post(s) of the rare
Jimi pix. Every one was new to me and I and a Jimi fan from waaay back.

The one of the JHE on the motorcycles made me gasp. It's obviously the
same shoot as the SSD cover. I've never seen any alternate shots of the
JHE on horseback (poster from Smash Hits)- there's gotta be some?...right?

Thank you so much again and please post more if you have any?

Well, glad you guys liked them. I have about 4000 JH-related total---
that particular photobucket account is 1 of 5 I use for temporary
storage---and many, like the Star Club or the Ezy Ryder shoot, include
multiple shots, sometimes quite a few.

As for dates, annotations & such, that is coming in due time....if I
can ever find the time, lol.

Excellent craftsmanship, old friend. I've seen some of these, but not many.
Please find the time to catalog this joint.

How's everybody doing? Hi! Great to see that the ol' newsgroup is lurching
back towards health (spammers notwithstanding...). Seems as though a couple
of years ago, they wrote the obituary for Usenet newsgroups in general. And
I confess that I did jump ship due to a confluence of spam and lack of
on-topic content. After a couple of weeks of "no items to view" from the
OE newsreader, me and my homies stood on the street corner with our 40s of
malt liquor and poured the first swig on the concrete in solemn remembrance
of what should have been. It was really touching, but I suppose you'd have
had to have been there to appreciate the tart poignancy of that moment. I
tear up even now, just thinking about it. ...'Scuse me, y'all, I have
something in my eye...

But there was something to that. Sluggo left because his ISP made the
business decision to no longer support Usenet groups. I believe that my own
ISP also deliberately undertook to block Usenet content to its subscribers
as a business decision back in '06 and steer them to web-based alternatives
in order to free up servers. So you can, perhaps, imagine my pleasant
surprise and delight when I fired up the old newsgoup facility on OE out of
boredom one day and to see that there was content from my old pals TomK,
box011, publicsaxophone, Elmo' 7#9 and now axis in ladyland. If it weren't
2 AM right now, I'd run to the butcher and get the fattest goose I could
find and I'd roast it slowly. And after I'd carved it and served my wife,
I'd declare, "God bless us...everyone."

Actually, the web alternatives aren't bad. The snob quotient seems to be a
bit higher on ESC. You're not really antagonized there as you might have
been here in years past. The discussion just doesn't flow as freely as it
does here. I think there was more of a sense of community here that ESC
lacks, although some may disagree. Not that I'm knocking ESC, because I'm
not. I myself am a member in good standing, and I consider the site a great
source of information. They compiled a Hendrix tribute 3CD (containing
tracks largely performed by ESC members) that's yours for the taking if you
have a Bit-Torrent client. And if you do, you should subscribe to Crosstown
Torrents immediately. My boot collection has grown exponentially in the
past couple of years due to the kindness of strangers. And to have a
torrent site devoted only to Hendrix audio and video is something a
newsgroup can't do very well.

But having said all of that, I'm gratified that there's still an a.m.j.h.
Thanks to those of you who stayed with it over the last few years. I'll be
here as long as my ISP will permit.

A month ago I tried to get into ESC, filled in the form, and recdived this:

Hi, TomK!

Well, they've been off-line for a while and recently came back. You didn't
say when this occurred, so I don't know whether one has anything to do with
the other...

To answer your other question, no, it's not their usual MO. There should be
a back-channel way to resolve this. If you don't get any other answers here
(several ESC members are on this NG), I'll try and find a fix. ESC's a
great resource and I recommend it to everyone.

Maybe something "fell out", seeing as the just got back up, or whatever, so
I'll try again, but if it doesn't work out, I'd be greatfull if you could
help me out.
I've been busy with things non-Jimi, but then I bought the deluxe Woodstock
DVD, and it all came back to me :-)
But I think I better wait untill tomorrow...

Take care,

Well, I suppose you're gonna get that anytime you have so many experts
who don't know anything all clotted 'round the same bright flame. See
it all the time on some of the sports discussion boards, too, for
example.

Oh well. It does have its up side...ESC, that is. But some of those
guys...lol.

Tom, Charles is usually very good at activating subscription requests.
Re-apply and I'll notify him to expect it.
