I'm sure this has already been discussed but last night on the local indy
channel here they aired the movie "Hendrix." (2000)
I happened to be scrolling through the guide when I saw it listed so I
missed about the first fifteen minutes. Anyway, I gave 'er a gander and my
lord.....
First of all, why even make an attempt to have someone play Jimi in a
biographical movie, let alone make an overdramatized flick, full of
inaccuracies and misquotes?
It was an embarassment, to be quite honest. My knowledge of the man is
average but even I saw mistakes aplenty.
I don't know for sure but I would have thought Mitch's hair would have still
been straight during the band's creation. Isn't it that way in the earliest
photos? They gave him a 'fro in the Marque recreation, too.
The Monterey misquote: "Fat matresses and golden SLIPPERS" Unless the TV
station censored 'underwear" for an over the air broadcast. Things haven't
got THAT bad, have they?
Let's see... An April 1970 meeting about Jimi's direction and THEN the BOG
LSD freakout? Huh???
I'm sure you guys spotted a million more, that is, if you wasted two hours
watching this. Okay, maybe 'waste' is too harsh but I certainly would let
anyone wanting to gain knowledge about the man see this movie.
Am I making much ado about nothing? It is, after all, just a movie.
And did the estate approve this project?
